About the Place
Step into Ginger Hop Restaurant and be welcomed by a friendly face, waving punkah fans and delicious, exotic aromas. At Ginger Hop you can enjoy classic Asian cuisine along with new “East meets Northeast” creations, many of which are gluten-free, vegetarian or vegan.
Relax in the bar which exudes the best of Old World pubs and features an excellent beer selection. Not only can you enjoy craft beer in the glass, you will discover it in the food, as well! Several menu items combine beer with Asian spices to create unique, full-flavored dishes.
Linger in the beautiful dining room with its modern Indochine feel and plenty of inviting booths. Or see and be seen on our patio on the corner of East Hennepin and 2nd Street NE, the gateway to Northeast Minneapolis.

About the Owners
Ginger Hop Restaurant (and Honey at Ginger Hop) is owned and operated by four partners: Jake Polt, Katey Leitch, Charles Lodge and Jon Provenzano. We worked together at Chiang Mai Thai for many years, happy to introduce exciting Thai cuisine, great service and an award-winning wine list to Uptown Minneapolis.
Ginger Hop evolved from the desire to create something new that continued our hallmarks of friendly service and exciting Asian flavors while incorporating elements of the old-yet-hip Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood where we are located. That is why we ventured beyond Thai food and created fun, new fusion dishes, many of which include beer as an ingredient. We offer these items alongside Thai favorites and a few classic dishes from Vietnam and China. It wouldn’t be “Nordeast” without a burger option, and we actually have 5 varieties from which to choose. But if you have to have your Pad Thai, we have that, too, and it is still delicious!
One of us is almost always around so be sure to say hello or reach out if you have questions or concerns. Sharing conversation and camaraderie with our customers is the best part of the job, so hop on in! We look forward to welcoming you.
